Our British wool Gansey jumpers combine traditional maritime knitwear with modern seamless construction. Originally worn by fishing communities around the British coast, the Gansey became known for its warmth, durability and practical design.
Each jumper in this collection is knitted in Britain from 100% British wool using advanced whole-garment knitting technology. This creates the complete garment with minimal seams, providing a comfortable fit, excellent freedom of movement and a consistent finish.
The traditional design looks the same from the front and back, reflecting the practical character of historic fishermen’s knitwear. Naturally insulating and breathable, British wool helps keep the wearer warm without relying on synthetic fibres.
Sometimes the terms Gansey and Guernsey are used interchangeably. Our seamless Gansey offers a modern interpretation, while our Original Guernsey collection follows the more familiar traditional construction.
