It's going to be impossible to make a jumper as magnificent as the British lady it is named after. This beautiful British Wool jumper is named after Mary Seacole, a British lady with an astounding story.

British Wool - Seacole - Ecru

Our Seacole jumper features carefully selected Aran patterns and is embellished with a beautiful large roll neck, sleeves,  and welt. We have also designed this jumper with a raglan sleeve so that the gorgeous patterns run the entire length of the jumper.

The unmistakable large roll neck is complemented by the rolled sleeves and welt. Other than adding some flare to your outfit, the large roll neck is sure to keep your neck warm on those colder days.

Mary Seacole

Mary Seacole was a British-Jamaican nurse and businesswoman who set up the "British Hotel" behind the lines during the Crimean War she was voted the greatest black Briton in a survey conducted in 2003 by the black heritage website Every Generation.

The Crimean War lasted from October 1853 until February 1856. It was fought by a coalition including Britain, against the Russian Empire.

Mary travelled to England and approached the British War Office, asking to be sent as an army nurse to the Crimea where she had heard there were poor medical facilities for wounded soldiers. She was refused.

Undaunted, she funded her own trip to Crimea, now part of Ukraine, where she established the British Hotel with Thomas Day, a relative of her husband, Edwin. The hotel provided a place of respite for sick and recovering soldiers.

Mary was able to visit the battlefield, sometimes under fire, to nurse the wounded. Indeed, she nursed sick soldiers so kindly that they called her ‘Mother Seacole’.
